More than 100 service members participated in a Military Appreciation Weekend hosted by Kroenke Sports & Entertainment at the Denver Pepsi Center, March 10-11, 2018.
More than 51,000 spectators were treated to multiple oath of enlistments, performances of the National Anthem with flag presentations, and a myriad of in-game promotions during the hockey, lacrosse and basketball games played throughout the weekend. One member from each military branch also participated in a dunk contest during the Denver Nuggets game.
“Over the years, teams that play at Pepsi Center have recognized military during individual events,” said a spokesperson for KSE. “This year, with several teams hosting home games over one weekend, KSE collectively wanted to take the opportunity to express their gratitude to all branches of the U.S. Military and thank them for their brave sacrifice and service to our country. ”
A KSE spokesperson said that in-game military recognition is something that KSE has done on a regular basis for many years and having a unique presence in Colorado allowed them to host an entire Military Appreciation Weekend.
“In the past, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment teams have hosted military appreciation games,” said a spokesperson for KSE. “KSE intends to host Military Appreciation Weekend for many years to come. Collectively, everyone at KSE is busy generating ideas on how to expand Military Appreciation Weekend in the future.”
According to Pepsicenter.com, “Denver-based Kroenke Sports & Entertainment is one of the world's leading ownership, entertainment and management groups. As owners and operators of Pepsi Center, the Paramount Theatre, Dick's Sporting Goods Park, the Colorado Avalanche (NHL), Denver Nuggets (NBA), Colorado Mammoth (NLL) and Colorado Rapids (MLS), KSE's sports and entertainment assets are second to none. Additional properties under KSE's umbrella include Altitude Sports & Entertainment, a 24-hour regional television network; Altitude Authentics, the company's official retail provider; and Altitude Tickets, the official ticketing provider for KSE teams and venues.”
