JOINT SECURITY STATION UR, Iraq – Today's Soldier in Focus is Spc. Raymond Adkins, a Mustang, Okla., native, currently working as a mechanic at Joint Security Station Ur in northeastern Baghdad.
Adkins serves with Company E, 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad. He recently reenlisted to accept an assignment at Fort Richardson, Alaska, where he and his wife, Michelle, and five children Kyla, Harlee, Racheal, Andrew and Thomas, will move after the Striker Brigade returns to Fort Carson, Colo.
"I really like it," Adkins said. "I've found a spot that I fit in and I enjoy what I'm doing."
Adkins said he plans to make the military a career and will be promoted to sergeant in December.
"I want to make it to the highest rank possible," he said.
