    403rd Wing announces fourth quarter 2017 award winners

    KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. – The 403rd Wing recognized its quarterly award winners for the Oct. 1 through Dec. 31 award period during the March 2018 unit training assembly. Winners were chosen in the Airman, noncommissioned officer, senior NCO, company grade officer and civilian categories.

    Airman of the Quarter – Senior Airman Jamekia Whitehead, 403rd Force Support Squadron. Whitehead completed common access card issuance training in just two days increasing the 403rd FSS’s ability to provide DEERs support to the wing. She also acted as a mentor for St. James Missionary Baptist Church, leading a youth program for 50 people.

    NCO of the Quarter – Staff Sgt. Krystal Hernandez, 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron. Hernandez completed 60 orders in 16 hours for the Keesler aircraft evacuation during Hurricane Nate, ensuring safe evacuation of more than $700 million in assets. She also coordinated 25 volunteers for project homeless connect, feeding and clothing more than 250 people.

    Senior NCO of the Quarter – Master Sgt. John Cotten, 403rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. Cotten supported 25 missions and led the additional maintenance support of two Air National Guard aircraft. He was also involved in the Hurricane Hunter Association raising $3,000 toward their scholarship fund in one weekend.

    CGO of the Quarter – Capt. April Martin, 5th Operational Weather Flight. Martin mentored 35 wing inspection team members and augmentees during a wing exercise and resolved more than 50 discrepancies. She also taught a leadership class to 14 enlisted members, mentoring Airmen on creativity and innovation.

    Civilian of the Quarter – Brian Harris, 815th Airlift Squadron. Harris guided 815th AS members through pre-deployment requirements, increasing the 403rd Wing’s world-wide presence. He also led free health care efforts and transportation for local children in need.
