WIESBADEN, Germany – Sgt. 1st Class Aimee K. Fields, a senior career counselor assigned to the 30th Medical Brigade, was recognized as the Department of the Army Career Counselor of the Year on Jan. 7.
The Secretary of the Army’s Career Counselor and Reserve Component Career Counselor of the Year Awards recognize the most outstanding career counselors for achievements in support of the retention effort and outstanding personal qualities.
Any Career Counselor in the rank of sergeant first class or below who has performed duties in the military occupational specialty 79S for at least six months during the fiscal year for which the award is being considered may be nominated.
Competitors take part in three events. The Army physical fitness test, a 50 question written exam and board appearance. The competitor with the highest score after all three events is named the winner.
“This has been a great experience. This is something that can set you apart from your peers and can help you work towards your next promotion. I’ve worked really hard preparing for this so I’m glad that my hard work paid off” Fields said.
