Nineteen Afghan Special Security Forces medics completed the Afghan National Army Special Operations Command’s Advanced Medical Training course at the ANASOC School of Excellence, Camp Commando, Afghanistan, Jan. 29, 2018. The ten-week advanced course included six weeks of classroom instruction, followed by a four-week clinical rotation at the Kandahar Regional Medical Center, Afghanistan’s premier trauma care center.

The investment in advanced medical training provides special operators the essential capabilities required to provide a high-level of first responder trauma care in emergency situations.

The Advanced Medical Training course is one of several specialty courses taught at the ANASOC SOE. ANASOC SOE specialty courses begin following the completion of each Commando Qualification Course. Specialty course students are selected for advanced training based on their assigned duty position and performance during the Commando Qualification Course. Other ASSF units such as the Special Mission Wing and General Command of Police Special Units also send their operators to SOE specialty courses.

In addition to the Advanced Medical Training course, other specialty courses offerings include the following: reconnaissance, sniper, mortars, forward observer and fire direction control, engineering and demolitions, communications, and sustainment operations.
