The professional development center hosted a critically manned Air Force Specialty Code exhibition for all Airmen who are interested in cross-training to other jobs in the Air Force at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, Jan. 24, 2018. There were 11 different AFSCs represented at the expo, providing information on training requirements, daily operations, and AFSC-specific topics.

“The benefit for Airmen attending this expo is that the knowledge they received just by speaking to the other individuals from these AFSCs,” said Master Sgt. Jesse Haines, 52nd Fighter Wing career assistance advisor. “They can now share this new knowledge with subordinates, peers, and leadership.”

During the expo Airmen had the opportunity to talk with representatives from several critical manned jobs such as Weather, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Security Forces Military Working Dog Handler, and Chaplain Assistant.

“There were a lot of very good questions that came up,” said Staff Sgt. Michael D’Augustino, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron EOD flight. “Hopefully now, we have more people interested in cross-training into EOD, and they have a better understanding about the requirements needed.”

The AFSC expo was the first of its kind here. The hour-long event gave attendees a perspective about the various high demand jobs, potentially helping Airmen make important career decisions.

“During the event I gave Airmen the information they need to understand their eligibility criteria for retraining into these AFSCs,” Haines said. “This is just the beginning; I would like to create a job fair AFSC expo with as many AFSCs as possible on Spangdahlem.”
