Before his time covering 1-91 Cavalry Squadron, SPC Keys was attached to the 10th Mountain Division stationed at Lielvarde Air Base, Latvia, covering various exercises including emergency evacuation procedures and air assault missions. While also in Latvia, SPC Keys traveled up to Estonia to cover crucial training with the British 5th rifles, and various NATO allies in air assault missions.

Prior to the mission in Latvia, SPC Keys spent time in Romania covering the events leading up to and surrounding Saber Guardian 2017. The president of Romania came to see the partnership between Romanian and US forces and SPC Keys provided B-roll from that event. SPC Keys provided broadcast assistance during Tobruq Legacy 2017 which focused on combined air defense training within NATO. He also covered a feature story on a deployed All-Army boxing coach, who spent time teaching and coaching soldiers on the finer points of boxing and leadership.

SPC Keys was in Germany for a three-week period prior to Saber Guardian 2017, and provided 6 news stories and various B-roll packages detailing the arrival of 1-8 Infantry from Fort Carson, Colorado as they embarked on their emergency deployment readiness exercise. Prior to his work in Germany, SPC Keys provided broadcast support for logistical movement as the King of Battle arrived in Romania, along with other incoming military equipment.

Before SPC Keys' time in the 7th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, SPC Keys was a member of the public affairs office in the 85th Civil Affairs Brigade. During his time there SPC Keys was twice sent to Puerto Rico to cover crucial training between the 85th Civil Affairs Brigade and their Puerto Rican National Guard counterparts. SPC Keys also covered outreach events at the 85th CA Brigade including donating time and goods to a local food pantry that specialized in helping veterans in the Fort Hood area.

SPC Keys also worked on different stories surrounding national holidays and specific days of remembrance while at the 85th Civil Affairs Brigade. SPC Keys created a video product, conducting interviews with various civil affairs soldiers on their experiences during September 11th, 2001. He also produced video products on sexual assault harassment month, and the efforts the 85th Civil Affairs Brigade was taking to educate soldiers on those matters.

Finally, SPC Keys was awarded an Army Achievement medal for his efforts producing video products during the 85th Civil Affairs Brigade’s best warrior competition, which coincided with a tasking to produce a video piece for the Fort Hood observance of Black History Month.
