SAN ANGELO, Texas – Lt. Cmdr. Christopher Allen transferred responsibility as the officer in charge of Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT) Detachment Goodfellow to Lt. Cmdr. Austin Maxwell in a change of charge ceremony, January 12.
Capt. Bill Lintz, commanding officer of Center for Information Warfare Training, presided over the event, praising Allen for his dedicated leadership and Goodfellow Sailors for their exceptional support for the information warfare training mission.
"Since Lt. Cmdr. Allen reported in January 2015, the Goodfellow Detachment has trained Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsman, and Soldiers in necessary skills to operate in multiple demanding theaters" said Lintz. "Allen has done an outstanding job working with the other services to ensure this training was effective and relevant."
Under Allen’s leadership, the 36 Sailors and four civilians assigned to CIWT Det. Goodfellow trained over 8,875 joint service students in over 58,000 hours of instruction, achieving a 99.5 percent graduation rate along with a 96 percent grade point average. They provide enlisted "C" school courses for cryptologic technicians and Department of Defense firefighters from all branches of the military.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to have served here with the fine Sailors at Goodfellow," said Allen, who now has orders to report to Tactical Training Group Atlantic as a strike group cryptologic resource coordinator trainer and mentor. "I am simply awestruck by the tenacity of our instructors and their drive for personal excellence and mission accomplishment. It gives me great pride to have been a part of this organization and great confidence in the future of our Navy and military."
Maxwell reports from U.S. Pacific Fleet's N2/N39 / intelligence and information operations, and brings 14 years of tactical, operational, and training experience. This will be his second tour under the CIWTdomain, as he previously served as the assistant officer in charge at CIWT Monterey.
"I am both humbled and honored to be here today," said Maxwell. "I look forward to working with you all to continue providing world-class training for the information warfare community."
The Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT) delivers trained information warfare professionals to the Navy and joint services, enabling optimal performance of information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations.
