Christmas came early for Airmen in Pfingston Hall dormitory Dec. 4, 2017.
The 7th Civil Engineer Squadron had contractors replace approximately 800 items in all 64 dorm rooms and three common areas, to include new washers, dryers, stoves, couches, beds, refrigerators, microwaves and more.
Common areas were furnished with brand new couches, flat screen TVs and sitting areas that are perfect for Airmen to study Career Development Courses, complete college courses and spend their leisure time.
"This is a direct impact to improving the quality of life for Airmen that are living in one of our older dormitories,” said Master Sgt. Ryan Raneiri, 7th CES dormitory management superintendent. “The last time the furniture in Pfingston Hall was replaced was over seven years ago."
In FY 2017 Dyess received approximately $221,000 that was used to purchase the new furnishings and provided dormitory residents with a higher quality of living.
“Dormitory living concerns will continue to be our focus and future funding will be used to improve that quality of life to the other dorms on Dyess,” Raneiri said.
“Coming home from work to my room is more of a pleasure now,” said Airman 1st Class Yasmin Silwany, 7th Security Forces Squadron member and Pfingston Hall resident. “This new renovation shows that our leadership at Dyess really care about junior enlisted Airmen.”
