LOUISVILLE, Tenn. – The Air National Guard’s I.G. Brown Training and Education Center in East Tennessee announced this week that government Common Access Card holders can now watch the Warrior Network, closed circuit television channel on their workstation computers.
“We are excited to announce our latest tool for communicators – viewers can now sit at their desktops and watch live broadcasts over the NIPRNet,” said Gerry Barnes, director of the Warrior Network and a broadcast engineer for TEC.
Common Access Card holders with NIPRNet restricted access can watch the Warrior Network through the “Live TV” hyperlink posted on TEC’s public website, www.angtec.ang.af.mil.
TEC broadcast engineers and cyber-operations Airmen said they pursued the capability for some time from requests by the field to view distance training remotely, including workshops, video conferences, as well as other productions. Their efforts not only deliver that but also reduce travel and increase outreach.
“This effort meets the Director of the Air National Guard's priorities, to include prioritizing Airmen's time through innovation as well as modernizing in efforts that enhance our operations," said Col. Kerry Lovely, TEC commander.
TEC manages the Warrior Network from the television studios on campus. The additional capability streams through the Defense Information Systems Agency, Global Content Delivery Service. Along with live streaming, Barnes said that video-on-demand will soon be available as well as optional capabilities, such as class enrollment accountability.
Traditional satellite Warrior Network broadcasts will remain, along with limited public video streaming on social media.
TEC produces and distributes advanced distributive learning products and broadcasts to 170 satellite downlink sites. Favorite events include the NCO academy and Airmen leadership school graduation ceremonies.
Mr. Barnes said their initiative enables the Air National Guard’s leadership, managers, and trainers a reliable tool to transport communication and information to a broader audience.
