    Joint Enabling Capabilities Command

NAVAL STATION NORFOLK, Va. – Army Reserve soldier Donald Absher receives his first star from his wife, Linda, as he reported to his new assignment as the vice commander of the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command, November 6, 2017.

Following a short promotion ceremony, Brig. Gen. Lenny Richoux, commander, Joint Enabling Capabilities Command, administered the oath of office and congratulated the new general. Brig. Gen. Absher joins the command team with nearly 30 years of commissioned service and will play an important role in the total force integration of this dynamic joint command.

Absher told members of the full-time staff who gathered to welcome him that he is “very impressed with the globally relevant nature of the JECC’s strategic mission.”

The Joint Enabling Capabilities Command provides decisive joint communications experts, and planning and public affairs support personnel to the Joint Force to meet emerging requirements of Combatant Commands and Joint Task Force capable headquarters. The command is an active component subordinate of U.S. Transportation Command, however, more than half of its personnel are reserve component members from all services.

"The JECC can integrate all the reserve component members and rapidly deploy them worldwide,” said Absher.

Joint Enabling Capabilities Command members continually support operations around the world. Recently, they provided hurricane relief support in Texas, Florida, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
