CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE ADDER, Iraq – The 10th Iraqi Army Division hosted the Iraqi defense minister and the Multi-National Corps – Iraq commander Oct. 22, 2008.
Colonel Philip Battaglia, commander of 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, escorted Lt. Gen. Lloyd Austin III, the MNC-I commander, and Iraqi minister of defense Abdul Qadir Mohammed Jasim to Camp Dhi Qar, the home of the 10th IA Div.
Upon arriving at the Iraqi camp, the minister and general were greeted with rows of Iraqi troops either saluting or proudly holding Iraqi flags. A large group of Iraqi soldiers conducted a small ceremony with their AK-47 rifles outside the general's headquarters to start the meeting.
The visit was mainly so the defense minister could speak directly with the commanding general of the 10th IA Division, Maj. Gen. Habib Taleb Abbais Mousa al Husain and to visit Camp Dhi Qar.
