    22nd Air Refueling Wing

    As a Faces of AR recognition, individuals are chosen by leadership for demonstrating the Air Force's Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

    Staff Sgt. Allison Gochenour, 22nd Contracting Squadron contracting officer, received Faces of Air Refueling recognition Sept. 7.

    Gochenour’s duties consist of being the team lead for simplified commodities and leading a team of eight Airmen through the acquisition process for all 22nd Air Refueling Wing and tenant organization purchases under the simplified acquisition threshold. Gochenour also acts as business advisor and contract writer for all actions below $150,000.

    “Staff Sgt. Gochenour is a highly-skilled contracting technician with an extremely high aptitude for business solutions that provide our customers and taxpayers with the most bang for their buck,” said Master Sgt. Brain Swanson, 22nd CONS section chief simplified acquisitions section chief. “She has been an integral member of the simplified acquisition team, and our current end of fiscal year push would absolutely not be a success without her knowledge, work ethic and leadership ability.”

    The Maize, Kansas native, joined the Air Force in October 2009 and arrived at McConnell in February 2016.


    What are the best parts about the job?

    I learn something new every day. I love research, reading and interacting with a large base of customers. The negotiations and market research skills I’ve learned have also helped me with my personal purchases.

    How do you feel like you contribute to the mission?

    I love Contracting because it’s easy to see the impact on the mission. Almost everything you see, the construction, services, equipment, have come from Contracting.

    What are the keys to success in your Air Force career?

    A great attitude and great mentorship.

    What is one goal that you have already accomplished, or would like to accomplish, during your Air Force career?

    A goal I’ve already accomplished was to deploy to Afghanistan. My next goal is achieve the rank of technical sergeant.
