KABUL, Afghanistan — International Security Assistance Force Regional Command-West's Battle Group received a new commander, Oct. 11, 208, during a ceremony in Herat.
Italian Lt. Col. Fernando Paglialunga handed over command to Italian Lt. Col. Salvatore Paolo Radizza.
Brig. Gen. Paolo Serra, commander of RC-West, led the ceremony that signed the transfer of authority, after six months, between 1st Airmobile Battalion and "Julia" Alpini Brigade.
The Battle Group was established in October 2007, and it is now composed of one Spanish and three Italian companies.
The Battle Group's aim is to provide security and stability in order to allow reconstruction and development to take place in the region.
