U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion - Phoenix

PHOENIX – Recruiters from Phoenix Central Recruiting Company attended the annual Arizona Diamondbacks Career Day, in an effort to inform local middle-school students about the U.S. Army, Sept. 12, Chase Field, Phoenix.

Representing the company was Staff Sgt. Brendan Martin and Sgt. Jared Prizmich, both recruiters for Chandler Recruiting Center, who both spoke about opportunities in the Army to hundreds of eager students.

Martin and Prizmich were featured on a panel with local police, firefighters and Air Force personnel, all of whom described their jobs and why they serve.

Prizmich said it was an honor to be asked to talk at the event and discussed the jobs available in the modern Army.

“There’s over 150 entry-level jobs available in the Army, ranging from medical, information technology, mechanical and combat,” Prizmich said. “Anything that you can think of that you want to do in the civilian world, you can do in the Army.”

Prizmich discussed the Army recruiting presence in Phoenix, which is spread throughout the state and in New Mexico.

“Every day we talk to young men and women about the Army and explain how it works,” he said. “We tell them about the educational and medical benefits and just how much the Army can enhance their lives.”

Prizmich said the opportunities also exist in the Army Reserve and National Guard, both of whom are well represented in the state.

“All these Soldiers are here to help day-to-day operations and we encourage young people in the region to be a part of it,” Prizmich said. “To qualify you have to be a high school graduate and meet all the physical requirements.”

Martin was asked about various uniforms and weapons used by the Army.

“We have a range of uniforms, including our everyday muiticam uniform, our Physical Training uniform and dress uniform,” Martin said. “We use hundreds and thousands of pieces of equipment in the Army, including your standard M-4 rifle, M-9 pistol, tanks … you name it, we have it. Anyone who qualifies can sign up and choose to learn how to use them.”

Martin said joining the Army is a pathway to success and a form of public service he is continually proud of performing.

The recruiters then fielded numerous questions from enthusiastic students, answering them all with sweat-covered smiles, on a scorching Phoenix day.
