Multi-National Force - Iraq
BAGHDAD - The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and Multi-National Force – Iraq strongly condemn the assassination of Iraqi parliamentarian Dr. Saleh al-Ugaili.
We extend our sincere condolences to his family and to the Council of Representatives on their loss in this senseless act of violence. This heinous crime was not just an attack against Dr. al-Ugaili, it was an attack against Iraq's democratic institutions.
Significant progress has been made in the effort to bring peace and stability to Iraq. We are confident the Iraqi people will stand together to ensure terrorists will not succeed.
We call on all sides to resolve their differences with dialogue and negotiations through national institutions.
