Sailors and Marines aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) held a reception for foreign military officers and officials during Fleet Week New York, May 25.
Chief of Staff, J-5 the Joint Staff Rear Adm. Lisa Franchetti spoke about the importance of the relationship between nations.
“The U.N. is only as strong as its member states and their dedication to this collective mission,” said Franchetti. “Your very presence here in New York is evidence of the global community’s collective commitment to address threats and maintain international peace and security as enshrined in the mission of the United Nations.”
Franchetti also spoke of the United States’ commitment to the global community.
“The U.S. shares your dedication to service in support of global responsibility,” said Franchetti.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests were offered cake and refreshments provided by Kearsarge’s supply department.
