AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - As a member of the U.S. Air Force Academy’s In the Stairwell, 2nd Lt. John Testerman, a Davis, Calif., native, will be performing at the America’s Got Talent semi-final round Sept. 12.
“In the Stairwell's success is completely unexpected, but at the same time very welcome,” Testerman said. “We are very grateful that America has supported us thus far into the competition, and we can't wait to continue to amaze them with our upcoming performances.”
In the Stairwell is the Academy’s all-male a Capella group formed in 2004 by freshmen cadets who sang together in the only place they could, their dormitory stairwells.
The group was invited by America’s Got Talent producers to compete on the show after they watched a YouTube video of the group performing last fall.
“We are all hugely grateful towards America for supporting us in the competition and for being our fans,” Testerman said. “It has been a blast and a ton of work preparing.”
Testerman is currently stationed at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss.
