As a member of the U.S. Air Force Academy’s In the Stairwell, Cadet 2nd Class Joshua Jalowiec, a Wood Dale, Ill., native, will be performing at the America’s Got Talent semi-final round Sept. 12.
“In the Stairwell performers all come from different groups and musical backgrounds, but we are all united by our common love of singing and the Air Force,” said Jalowiec. “We've begun to perform songs that really have a deeper meaning for us as a group.”
“Though we have differing views and personalities, we work together well, with each person able to correct another to make the group better,” he said.
In the Stairwell is the Academy’s all-male a Capella group formed in 2004 by freshmen cadets who sang together in the only place they could, their dormitory stairwells.
The group was invited by America’s Got Talent producers to compete on the show after they watched a YouTube video of the group performing last fall.
“I'm thankful for the opportunity to sing, but more importantly the opportunity to grow,” Jalowiec said.
Jalowiec is currently in his junior year at the Academy.
