AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – As a member of the U.S. Air Force Academy’s In the Stairwell, 2nd Lt. Benjamin Hightower, a Mobile, Ala., native, will be performing at the America’s Got Talent semi-final round Sept. 12.
“It is a dream come true for me,” said Hightower. “All I've ever wanted to do is two things, be an Air Force officer or perform, I feel incredibly blessed to be able to do both on this stage.”
In the Stairwell is the Academy’s all-male a Capella group formed in 2004 by freshmen cadets who sang together in the only place they could, their dormitory stairwells.
The group was invited by America’s Got Talent producers to compete on the show after they watched a YouTube video of the group performing last fall.
Hightower recently graduated from the Academy and is currently a Fulbright scholar at Leuven University in Belgium.
