Soldiers with the 258th Movement Control Team, 3rd Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade participated in a Family Readiness Group fun run on Tybee Island Aug. 11. This was their first FRG event with their new commander after returning from deployment to Kuwait.
An ordinary day for the unit looks like cargo and personnel movements on Hunter airfield. The break from the norm to run on the beach with their families was a welcome change of pace.
“It was a fun thing for the unit to do,” said Capt. Sarah Leiv, the commander of the 258th MCT. “We got a chance to build esprit de corps and it gave me a chance to meet some of the families.”
This was the families’ first introduction to the new commander, who assumed command of the unit this past July. They also had a chance to volunteer for upcoming events through the FRG.
“This was our first event since the last company commander was still in charge,” Leiv said. “This gave us a chance to introduce the FRG leaders to the families as well.”
