FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. – Pfc. Lawrence Lowe, from Philadelphia, serves as a transportation specialist for the 1067th Transportation Company, 728th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 213th Regional Support Group. After studying photography at the Antonelli Institute in Philadelphia, Lowe joined the military at 34 years old.
“I was older than most of my drill sergeants, so it was kind of tough” said Lowe with a laugh.
He said the most important part was staying fit and healthy and keeping a positive mindset.
“The Army is mostly mental, so just doing what I could to stay in the game was important,” said Lowe.
Since completing initial entry training, Lowe works in an Active Duty Operational Support position doing marketing for recruitment. He said the tools he gained in his civilian education, coupled with his experiences working with the younger generation during his military training has taught him how to appeal to and ultimately recruit future Soldiers.
