Families join Protectors of the Crossroads for night of fun

Marine Corps Base Quantico

Families were able to join together for a cool summer afternoon filled with live music, static displays and delicious snow cones at Lincoln Military Housing. Perkins Loop was the safest place on base to gather as members of the Provost Marshal's Office, Quantico Fire and Emergency Services and Security Battalion were in attendance.
As children were hoisted into police cars and fire trucks so parents could take pictures of the little future heroes, the Protectors of the Crossroads informed the families about the crucial services they provide.
Parents gained insight on these useful assets to base, while children received first-hand accounts of the gear as well as the training and skills the protectors had to offer.
The event that drew the largest crowd was the static display of the Quantico K-9 Unit. Members of the community gathered around a metal fence, which contained two police officers and a German Shepherd, and watched as the dog received commands from his trainer and assisted in containing various scenarios.
Apart from the static displays, various family services were in attendance informing parents about childcare, after school programs, health, fitness and preparation for the upcoming school year.
Families were able to mark items off their back-to-school shopping lists as organizations were handing out backpacks and various other school supplies.
