The Task Force was transported using multimodal logistics extending the strategic reach to 2CR with EUCOM Joint Operations Area across the Black Sea to Georgia. Troopers demonstrated speed of assembly by how quickly and efficiently they rolled on and off the vessel. Each Trooper was very excited to be a part of this mission displaying the Army’s capability.
Capt. Shelton Seaborn, Support Operations officer for RSS, explained the importance of loading the vessel in a tactical manner so that it could be easily unloaded into Tbilisi. “This problem set was solved by loading all vehicles facing exit ramps on the vessel, even if it meant completely backing them onto the decks. Achieving this took great coordinated effort from the regiment’s best 88Ms [Motor Transport Operator].” Between the complex planning and the effort of the transportation Soldiers, members of the RSS successfully executed the port operations.
The equipment arrived at Port of Poti on July 28 as the troopers flew to Tbilisi. The Soldiers then downloaded all equipment off the vessel to set the ranges and extensive equipment demonstrating 2CR’s capabilities at their final training leg in Vaziani Training Area.
RSS supports all operations for the regiment, meeting all requirements on its Mission Essential Task List, to ensure 2CR is “Always Ready!”
This exercise showcases the relevance of what a Support Squadron truly does. Whether it’s pushing the regiment to the Baltic Sea for Saber Strike, or to Poland for enhanced Force Presence, each mission promotes unit focus, safety, and readiness thus validating the RSS winning the 2016 Deployment Excellence Award Best of the Best category.
