    Tridents participate in Tui Moana

Operation Tui Moana is one of a series of multinational events monitoring the health and use of tuna fisheries in the Southwest Pacific. Operation Tui Moana took place within the Exclusive Economic Zones and associated high seas of Fiji, and involved surveillance of more than two million square kilometers of ocean.

This detachment included flights and senior leadership engagements with the citizens of Fiji to improve interoperability and familiarization.

The U.S. Navy shares a mutual interest with other maritime nations in freedom of navigation, respect for international law, and unimpeded and lawful commerce. These types of exercises allow for multilateral training while exchanging both skills and cultures. The US shares many of its best practices and maritime protocols with partner nations and looks forward to fostering the ongoing professional partnership with Fiji and the other FFA participants.

The Tridents are based out of Jacksonville, Florida, and are currently on a six-month deployment in support of U.S. SEVENTH Fleet. This operation was one of many bilateral events that VP-26 will participate in throughout their deployment. Events such as these enhance critical alliances, strengthen theatre security cooperation and solidify interoperability during all-spectrum operations.
