KABUL, Afghanistan – The Combined Security Transition Command (CSTC-A), Command Team, Maj. Gen. Richard Kaiser and Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel Hendrex briefed incoming leaders in Kabul, May 20, 2017, detailing how their organization enables the Afghan National Defense Security Force (ANDSF) to develop their own capacity and capabilities.
The audience included senior U.S. and coalition leaders, new to the Resolute Support Mission to train, advise and assist ANDSF in developing new processes to strengthen ANDSF units, and, among other things, fighting corruption.
“[This brief] helps advisors enter the mission with a higher understanding of where we are on the ground,” said Kaiser. “…gives them a clear understanding of how CSTC-A can assist in their advising mission, and gives them the confidence to hit the ground running.”
Having confidence in their advising mission will ensure a long-term NATO-Afghanistan enduring partnership. Those attending felt Kaiser and Hendrex had the right message.
“Maj. Gen. Kaiser and Command Sgt. Maj. Hendrex provided an honest and candid senior leader’s perspective that [incoming] leaders can act on,” said U.S. Army Col. Adolphus Weems, Joint Forces Command Brunssum.
The CSTC-A brief was part of a five-day introduction series created to provide context and insight to senior leaders arriving at Resolute Support Mission as part of the international team.
