Patrol Squadron NINE partners with Indonesia Military for Sea Surveillance Exercise

Throughout the exercise, VP-9 conducted maritime surveillance and communication drills with Indonesian Navy riders embarked on their P-3C aircraft. The cooperative events strengthened the U.S.-TNI alliance and improved regional security.
"Executing training missions and collaborating with our partners in Indonesia was a rewarding experience," said Cmdr. Elizabeth Regoli, the VP-9 Commanding Officer. "It is opportunities like these where we can gain a better understanding of each other’s capabilities and increase interoperability on-station.”
“Exercises like this are a great chance for us to not only work towards strengthening our maritime surveillance procedures, but also build lasting relationships with our Indonesian allies,” said Lt. Zachary Gorevin, the mission commander for Combat Aircrew Ten.
VP-9 operates the P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft capable of conducting anti-submarine warfare, maritime patrol, reconnaissance, anti-surface warfare and search and rescue missions. VP-9 will be heading to Whidbey Island, Washington following their six month deployment and transition to the P-8A Poseidon.
VP-9 is currently deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet Area of operation at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, and to the U.S. 4th Fleet AOR at Comalapa, El Salvador.
