PENSACOLA, Fla. –Naval Education and Training Professional Development Center (NETPDC) Public Affairs received two awards April 20 at the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Pensacola chapter’s 60th Anniversary Celebration and Image Awards.
Ed Barker, NETPDC’s public affairs officer, received the Judge’s Award and Image Award for his story ”Navy Advancement Center Adds Exam Bibliographies to the Navy COOL Website”.
“It’s always an honor to be recognized by your peers for the work you do” said Barker. “Good stories write themselves. Spreading the word about helping Sailors with their progress toward advancement was a meaningful and enjoyable project.”
“Ed’s communication efforts in support of the BIBs on Navy COOL were directly responsible for thousands of Sailors downloading the advancement references they needed to study for their exams,” said Capt. Kertreck Brooks, commanding officer of NETPDC. “It’s important to leverage technology to support our mission, but it’s equally as important to communicate that leverage and opportunity to the fleet.”
The awards were presented by FPRA Pensacola Chapter President Nicole Stacey.
“The local Image Awards represent the best of our Pensacola Public Relations Professionals,” said Stacey. “The winners were chosen not just because of outstanding products, but also because of their process, the research, planning, implementation and evaluation it took to deliver their desired results.”
According to the FPRA website, the image awards competition serves to recognize the best in public relations where entries are judged on a written summary and work samples. The Image Award is presented to the top-scoring entry in one of four categories. Barker’s submission won in the Printed Tools of Public Relations category. The Judges’ Award is presented for an outstanding entry that achieves maximum results while using a minimum amount of money.
