    Story by Capt. Jason Yuhasz

    152nd Airlift Wing

Ten long-serving members of the Nevada National Guard received recognition Sunday for their decades of service. Retired Maj. Gen. Drennan A. Clark, former adjutant general of Nevada, helped present the awards, which bear his name, “The Drennan A. Clark Order of Nevada,” during a ceremony at the Air National Guard base here.

Award recipients included, Cols. Glen Martel, JoAnn Meacham and Dave Manson; Lt. Col. Shelly Assiff, Chief Master Sgts. Mark Prizina, William Moore, Lorne Hall and Tim Broadway; Senior Master Sgt. Steve Graham and Master Sgt. Paul Hinen.

The accomplishments varied from recipient to recipient, but all met or exceeded the award’s standards, “for career achievement, which has had significant impact on the Nevada Military Department and its members.” Recipients’ accomplishments included service within the state of Nevada, overseas deployments, process improvements and achieving other long and short-term goals and benchmarks.

Brig. Gen. William Burks, Nevada’s adjutant general, praised Clark’s vision and foresight during his term as adjutant general from 1986-2001. Clark is the third longest-serving adjutant general in Nevada’s history.

To be eligible for the Order of Nevada, one of the highest precedent awards for the state, a member must have 25 years of “exceptional meritorious service” to the United States military. Of those 25 years, 20 must be in the Nevada National Guard. The service must be meritorious, demonstrating long-term, positive, significant impact to the members of the Nevada National Guard and to the citizens of Nevada.
