Children and family members of the 512th Airlift Wing celebrated Month of the Military Child, Saturday here.
Reservist’s children and spouses toured a C-5M Super Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster III, the fire station and watched a demonstration by security forces and their military working dogs.
“The best part of today is that the children get to know what their parents do,” said Jim Pacer, a community readiness consultant with the Airman and Family Readiness Center at Dover Air Force Base. Pacer chaperoned the tour with his granddaughter, Alana Pacer. Alana’s mother is a reservist with the 512th AW.
April is Month of the Military Child which was established to celebrate and acknowledge the sacrifices and challenges military children face.
“Family days are important,” said Rachel Feigenbutz, who attended the tour with her two boys. “They make you appreciate what your spouse does when they aren’t home.” Rachel’s husband is a member of the 709th Airlift Squadron.
More than 110 people took part in the Month of the Military Child event.
