US Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Amy R. Giaquinto, New York Air National Guard command chief, met with the enlisted council of the 174th Attack Wing in Syracuse N.Y. on April 1, 2017.
Giaquinto was asked about the new Enlisted Performance Report (EPR) requirements and how they effect the members Air National Guard (ANG); the reports were previously only utilized in the Active duty.
"The intent is to help enlisted personnel know how they are doing," Giaquinto said, emphasizing that the report would not be the focus of promotion but a tool allowing clear expectations of supervisors to be communicated where time is limited due to the nature of the ANG.
With a changing culture surrounding the report, Air Force wide, Giaquinto also pointed out that supervisors should focus on quality and not quantity when writing the reports and encouraged enlisted members at all stages of their career to keep track of the great work they do.
"It's your career, make it easy for your supervisor to give you the EPR you deserve." Giaquinto said.
The visit was, in part, an opportunity to familiarize her self with operations at Hancock Field and meet with the enlisted members of the 174th after being appointed command chief in July of 2016.
