FOREST PARK, Ill. -- On March 11, 2017 the 318th Press Camp Headquarters (PCH) participated in a centuries-old tradition; the Change of Command ceremony.
Brig. Gen. Jose Burgos, Deputy Commanding General of the 99th Regional Support Command, presided over the ceremony. “Passing the guidon from one commander to another is the symbol of authority and trust.” Burgos stated, “It's a centuries-old tradition in the Army.”
After two years in command of the PCH Lt. Col. Daniel Allen is moving on to a position in the Pentagon. His words of advice for the listening Soldiers were: “Stay focused. Control what you can control; your energy, effort, attitude and your respect and everything else will fall into place.”
The incoming commander, Maj. Dwayne Wirfel, has served with multiple public affairs detachments and brings a wealth of experience to the position. “We're going to be building on the foundation established by Lt. Col. Allen. I'm eager to see us performing as professionals, both here and on our deployments.”
Burgos also reminded those attending the ceremony, “This is not the Army of the 80's, 90's, or even the 2000's... we're preparing for change, while maintaining the US Army standards and traditions of excellence.”
