We are at a junction in the Warrant Officer Corps that is critical to our survival, and we need everyone’s help.

I ask you this with the understanding that some of our MOS’s are at Max and we will not see CW5 as a result, but I also ask that you consider the long term effect of not fulfilling our lower ranks and the result of that in an ever decreasing Army.

We cannot depend on ARCD to do this for us. In 12 years of using the same recruiting philosophy we have not gained or even maintained our Warrant Officer strength. Warrant Officers must identify potential candidates.

Warrant Officers must target technically proficient NCO’s in their formations and ask them why they haven’t considered applying to become a Warrant Officer? Each Warrant Officer must invest the time to recruit to fill our critical shortages.

If you didn’t catch it in the Mine Planter article Warrants can now get college credit for WOILE/WOSSE in a partnership with Webster University (http://www.webster.edu/military).

As most of you should know, your Board file is open if you are eligible for promotion. You have 2-4 minutes to impress the board. Areas of focus are Senior Rater Narrative, Senior Rater DA Label, Duty Description, Population Size and Rater Narrative. Ensure your ORB/ARB are up to date and submitted and of course your DA Photo. Being Qualified and being Competitive are two different things, learn the difference.
