Tech. Sgt. Guy R. Conley, Jr., a recruiter with the 130th Airlift Wing in Charleston, West Virginia, received the Region 4 production recruiter of the year award for fiscal year 2016.
The award highlights the efforts of individuals in the nine state region for their ability to attract and attain new recruits to the Air National Guard.
His efforts led to 55 total recruitments for fiscal year 2016, accumulating 21 more than the national average and included five officer enlistments, which are not normal for a production recruiter.
In the last quarter of 2016, Conley was recognized by the Director of the Air National Guard, Lt. Gen. L. Scott Rice, as a Director’s Challenge Honoree for assisting the Air National Guard in making its yearly end-strength goals with 18 recruitments in the fourth quarter.
“We have been able to keep the unit at over 100% manning for the past decade, due to the hard work of not only Tech Sgt. Conley, but the entire wing recruiting and retention team's outstanding work,” said Col. Randy Huffman, vice wing commander of the 130th AW. “The job they do is the foundation of assembling citizen airmen to serve the community and the nation.”
When reflecting on his accomplishment, Conley noted, “It’s a great feeling to be recognized for my efforts to help the unit meet its recruiting goals and directly help complete our mission.”
The Region 4 award qualifies him for consideration for the National Production Recruiter Award.
