ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. – Arts & Crafts, Outdoor Recreation and Information Tickets and Travel are all combined under one roof, and as a result of ongoing renovations, service is about to get even better.

There will be very noticeable differences once the improvements are completed by the end of March.

“This facility upgrade will improve our efficiency and help us to create a much better customer experience for our guests,” said Bobby Roper, 78th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Rec, ITT, and Arts & Crafts director.

Customers will immediately notice one of the biggest improvements as soon as they walk through the doors. Upon entering, they will face a rounded counter staffed by friendly attendants ready to assist with their needs from any of the activities.

Behind the attendants, a TV monitor will display a variety of available products and services.

From the front counter, customers will also have a clear view of the framing shop, engraving shop and available Outdoor Rec items.

Currently Outdoor Rec has a number of their offered products stored in bays behind the main facility. Space gained from the improvements will make room for many of those items to come inside to be placed on display for more convenient patron access.

Bringing those items inside will free up space for more big-ticket items to be stored outside.

“We’re excited when we look at how these renovations will benefit customers and our staff as well,” said Roper.

Some of the benefits staff will enjoy include larger work spaces in needed areas and improvements in some administrative areas. They will also gain a dedicated classroom in the process.

Building 948 has not always been home for all three activities, therefore combining them together was certain to create a need for changes in the floor plan.

Construction which began in January is being conducted in a manner which does not interfere with operations. Hours of operation, products and services available remain the same.
