Director, Fleet Maintenance U.S. Pacific Fleet Visits SERMC

    JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES

    01.30.2017

    Story by Scott Curtis

    Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC)

Rear Adm. Williamson kicked off the visit by presenting 39 SERMC Sailors with Navy Afloat Maintenance Training Strategy (NAMTS) certificates of completion during an awards ceremony, and stressed the importance of achieving the qualification for personal and professional growth.

“NAMTS is not just a PQS qualification; it tells your leaders you have the skills to do the work. When you return to the fleet, make sure you skipper knows you have the qualifications, you’re trained, and you’re ready to do the work. That’s the kind of pride I want you to take back with you when you return to sea,” Williamson said.

He also discussed efforts of the Engineering Duty Officer (EDO) community’s Guiding Coalition survey, which comprises the mentor program, work/life balance and career management. The discussion closed with a question and answer session where junior officers could receive face-to-face answers and feedback.

Upon completion, Rear Adm. Williamson returned to Pacific Fleet headquarters with a better understanding of SERMC’s ship maintenance capabilities and capacity, logistics requirements and innovative practices.
