SILER CITY, N.C. – Friends, family and community honored Soldiers of the North Carolina National Guard’s 130th Financial Management Support Company with a mobilization ceremony at their armory in Siler City, North Carolina, Dec. 3, 2016.

The more twenty Soldiers will deploy to Southwest Asia in support Central Command (CENTCOM) as part of Operation Spartan Shield.

“I have watched them grow as Soldiers,” said Army Col. Robert S. Wright, commander of the 113th Sustainment Brigade, the company’s higher headquarters, about their training.

The ceremony had the traditional music by the NCNG’s 440th Army band, speeches by officials, many hugs, handshakes and tears of any and every National Guard deployment but also the laughter, giggles and play of dozens of children there with their soon to deployed parents.

“Our unit is quite young and they are big on family,” said Army Capt. Darius Hinton, the unit’s commander.

Hinton thanked his Soldiers for their hard work and training in preparation for deployment.

“I am proud of you, of your resilience and you inspire me,” said Army Hinton to the 130th Soldiers at the ceremony.

Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, fellow Soldiers and NCNG Family Programs staff pledged to help in any way to the families soon to be missing mom or dad on duty overseas.

“It is just me and my son and they are so supportive,” said Spc. Denise Moraga, a Soldier in the 130th.

Nervous excitement blended with the veterans’ experience as Soldiers prepared for their new assignment.

“It is going to be an adventure, I have never been out of the country before,” said Army Pfc. Eden Weisz, a 130th Soldier on her first deployment.

The company’s mission is providing Military Pay Support, Commercial Vendor Services, Disbursing, E-Commerce, and Foreign Currency Exchange to U.S. Service Members, Department of Defense Employees and Contractors in the CENTCOM Theater of operations.
