HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD, Ga. – The 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. Terri Clavon at a Change of Responsibility ceremony on Hunter Army Airfield December 2.

Clavon, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., replaced outgoing Command Sgt. Maj. George M. Dove, who hails from San Angelo, Texas.
The 3rd CAB commander, Col. Jeffrey A. Becker had words of praise for the outgoing senior leader.

“There is no confusion in what his major performance objectives are—all you have to do is read the noncommissioned officers creed,” he said. “Nobody is more professional than he is in all aspects of his life. His counsel, competence and work ethic enhance the reputation of the NCO corps as the backbone of the Army.”

Becker spoke on the relationship that had developed both on a personal and professional level with Dove. He also bid the Dove Family farewell as they prepare to embark on their journey to Ft. Rucker, Alabama. There, Dove will assume duties and responsibilities as command sergeant major for the Aviation Center Logistics Command.

Dove left words of wisdom for the Soldiers he served with.
“Be a humble servant. Invest time in your team. Inspire creative thinking. Reward the success of others—it’s not about me or you, it’s about the success of the mission,” Dove said.

With a warm welcome, Becker introduced the Soldiers and Families to their new senior enlisted advisor.

“All Soldiers are entitled to outstanding leadership,” Becker said. “And I know Command Sgt. Maj. Clavon will provide it.”

Clavon most recently served as the command sergeant major for the 3rd Squadron, 6th Calvary Regiment, 1st Armored Division, out of Ft. Bliss, Texas.

The leadership reputation established by those who have been Falcon 7 previously will be continued by Clavon as he accepts the responsibility of leading and mentoring Soldiers and families within the Falcon Brigade, added Becker.

After the ceremony, which passed the noncommissioned officer’s sword to the newest Dog-Faced Soldier, Clavon humbly spoke about the honor of becoming the 3rd CAB command sergeant major.

“I am proud to be a part of the ‘Rock of the Marne’ team,” said Clavon. “I promise to work diligently with our amazing teams—the 3rd Infantry Division team, the greater Savannah area team and our island of paradise called Hunter Army Airfield.”

As a team, Soldiers and leaders of ‘Marne Air’ will work together to provide America with the greatest combat aviation brigade, he said.
“It is time for this new Dog-Faced Soldier to get out of the house and go to work,” said Clavon.
