Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division shot their Gunnery Table V Nov. 30, 2016 at Fort Stewart, Georgia in preparation for the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California this spring.
The Soldiers have been training for Gunnery Table V for the past four weeks.
U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Thomas Malletta, a platoon leader in Company A, 3rd Bn., 69th Arm. Rgmt., said the Soldiers are qualifying and prepping themselves for Gunnery Table VI next week.
"The point of this table is to get out on the range, shoot some live rounds and hopefully prepare and improve on the gunnery skills we've learned through previous tables,” said Malletta.
The Soldiers started preparing for this gunnery by participating in the Bradley Acquisition Target System training, which is a computerized simulator where they shoot engagements. Next, they tested their skills during the Gunnery Skill Trainer testing, which includes 10 different tasks on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, to include uploading ammunition into the ready boxes, conducting misfire procedures and assembling and disassembling the 25mm chain gun.
Sgt. 1st Class Pablo Flores, a platoon sergeant in Co. A, 3rd Bn., 69th Arm. Rgmt., said a lot of gunners are pretty excited about the training.
"We have a lot of new gunners, and this is their first time shooting live rounds," said Flores.
"The Soldiers out here have been through a lot of training over the last six months during their deployment," said Malletta. "It's great to see them out here working really hard and continuing with great stride and great professionalism as expected of them."
