KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Have you been promoted, re-enlisted, received an award or deployed lately? These are some achievements 403rd Wing reservists can highlight to their hometown media outlets by submitting a Joint Hometown News Release.

The Joint Hometown News Service program has been in existence for over 40 years and was designed to showcase the accomplishments and activities of Airmen in their local newspapers, radio and television stations.

"This is a great program and another avenue for wing members to keep their friends and family from their hometowns up to date on the great things they accomplish while serving their country," said Maj. Marnee A.C. Losurdo, 403rd Wing Public Affairs chief. "Supervisors can also assist in telling the Air Force Reserve story by informing Airmen about the program, which is another great way to recognize them for their outstanding work."

More than 10,000 media outlets nationwide subscribe to the free news service. The Defense Media Activity runs the Joint Hometown News Service and staff there generate a press release and send it to member's hometowns, their parents' hometowns, their alma mater universities, or locations specified on the form. Last year, DMA processed more than 70,000 press releases, according to the HometownLink website.

Airmen can submit a form online at https://jhns.release.dma.mil/public/standard. The Public Affairs office can also assist wing members by taking their photograph to submit with their Joint Hometown News Release.
