STB bids farewell to their commander

More than 200 Soldiers formed up by companies to begin the changes of command ceremony, where Lt. Col. Jeannette Martin relinquished command of the STB to Lt. Col. Robin D. Husted.
“I must give honor and thank God for his continued strength as I continue to serve this great Nation,” said Martin during her comments.
Martin addressed the formation of Soldiers and her guest, thanking all for her success as the battalion commander as for their support.

“To my mother, who is here today, I am grateful and delighted to have you here,” said Martin. “To the Steel Curtain team that stand before us today, you look awesome and I cannot thank you and your families enough. It has all been nothing short for phenomenal and you never cease to amaze me.”
During her tenure, Martin’s battalion participated in multiple training exercises and prepared and deployed with her unit.
“Your selfless service and support for all the Network Integration Evaluations, Iron Focus Exercises, National Training Center rotations, at Fort Irwin, Calif., and multiple deployments, I thank you,” said Martin. “I thank you for your support from the brigade, division and installation.
About 225 Soldiers from the STB and brigades’ headquarters deployed May 2015, were they were responsible for moving equipment out of Afghanistan. The brigade redeployed in late January and early February.
During the ceremony, Martin also spoke about leadership as she gave her last three points as the STB commander to Husted.
“I leave you with three points: Trust the team in the trenches; maintain a good balance; and most of all have fun,” said Martin. “Leadership is not a popularity contest,” Martin said as she quoted Colin Powell.
Martin will continue her service in Fort Knox, Kentucky, where she will work at the Department of the Army Human Resources Command.
After Martin completed her closing comments, Husted had a few words for the Soldiers and guest.
“Soldiers in the formations, you look outstanding,” Husted stated during her opening remarks as the new STB commander.
“Your pervious accomplishments speak volumes to the quality you bring to the Army, and I look forward to working with each and every one of you,” said Husted.
As the ceremony came to an end, Husted had one final thing to say.
“It is truly an honor to command and one that I do not take lightly,” said Husted. “I know that the future will bring challenges to this fine unit, but I have no doubt that each one will be head on and the Special Troops Battalion will enjoy nothing but success. “Achieve and maintain those standards,” said Husted.
