EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. Soldiers from various units participated on a joint CBRNE Assessment and Selection event conducted by the 21st and the 28th Ordnance Companies (EOD) at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida from Nov. 4-6.
The purpose of the event was to identify the most qualified EOD technicians for future assignment in these companies. During the 72-hour event, the candidates completed an Army Physical Fitness Test, an extended foot march, personal and team evaluations, and an interview board. The company leadership selected individuals for assignment to the companies based on their overall performance.
The majority of the candidates were U.S. Army lieutenants completing training at the Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal, which is the school for EOD technicians for all branches of services. Upon graduation, the selected lieutenants will be assigned to the 21st OD Co (EOD) or 28th OD Co (EOD).
A total of 25 candidates competed in this selective event. Because all assignments to these companies are competitive, the companies conduct assessment and selections four to five times per year. EOD Soldiers interested in joining these selective units should contact the 20th CBRNE Command Operations for more information at usarmy.apg.20-cbrne.mbx.g35-plans@mail.mil.
