Marine Corps Systems Command inducted its newest senior executive during a ceremony at Marine Corps Base Quantico’s Harry Lee Hall Oct. 27.

Jaimie Reese took the oath to become a member of the Senior Executive Service and assume responsibility as comptroller for the acquisition command of the Marine Corps. In her new role, Reese directs and controls the full range of comptroller responsibilities associated with planning, programming, budgeting (formulation and execution) and accounting for all Procurement-Marine Corps and acquisition research and development. She is also responsible for operation and maintenance funds required for the day-to-day operations of MCSC, the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity, and affiliated Program Executive Officers.

“In order to be successful as you progress through your career and assume leadership billets, one of the most important things you can do is surround yourself with the right people,” said Brig. Gen. Joseph Shrader, MCSC commander. “When it came time to [select] our comptroller, Jaimie came highly recommended. I think we made the right choice.”

Reese came to Marine Corps Systems Command from the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Financial Management and Comptroller, Office of Budget, where she served as the deputy director of the Business and Civilian Resources Division.

“I’m honored to have been chosen as a member of this great leadership team,” Reese said. “I’m tremendously proud to be a Civilian Marine, and I look forward to doing great things together.”

Reese began her career with the Department of the Navy in 1996, as a financial management trainee, eventually becoming the aviation lead analyst and then shipbuilding lead analyst. In addition to various assignments with the Navy, she also worked in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller).

Reese is a graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College, and holds a master’s in Public Administration from George Washington University. She is Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Level III certified in the business, financial and cost estimating fields, and Financial Management Level III certified. She was appointed to the Senior Executive Service as deputy to the commander for Resource Management at MCSC in July.

“Jaimie Reese is one to watch,” Shrader said. “This is only the first of many senior billets to come for her.”
