After 13 years as an enlisted personnel systems manager, a missed promotion test sparked an immediate interest to apply for Officer Training School. From that point, McBride led Airmen as a communications officer and cyber operations officer. Throughout his 26-year career, he was stationed at nine bases in California, New Mexico, Florida, Hawaii, Texas and Colorado. He deployed three times that included Kenya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. He also volunteered for a one-year assignment in Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. McBride retired in 2015 and moved to Niceville, Fla. McBride said he’s proud of his service and used the lessons learned in the military. McBride continues to work for the government as an IT support contractor for an Air Force acquisition organization at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
