Chief Master Sgt. Shelina Frey, Air Mobility Command Command chief, visited with Airmen of the 375th Air Mobility Wing during a tour Oct. 3-4.

Frey said she walked away impressed by the innovation, communication and excellence she witnessed at units throughout the wing.

“I’m not surprised by anything I saw today,” said Frey. “Col. Lenderman brings excitement to this wing, and her partner, Chief Mathias, just does great things.”

Frey said it’s clear to see the influence of Col. Laura Lenderman, 375th AMW commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Wesley Mathias, 375th AMW command chief, in the Airmen she met with.

“They’re innovative, they communicate well, and they do strive for excellence,” Frey said. “I know that is what Col. Lenderman preaches, and I like it.”

As each unit put their best foot forward, Frey took time to thank each Airman for their dedicated service and presented coins to many in recognition of their great work and professionalism.

“What I see are Airmen working hard every day,” said Frey. “Airmen here are proud to be who they are and proud to be part of the 375th.”

The visit began with an evening social Oct. 3, where Frey met with chief master sergeants from across the wing, as well as their spouses.

The tour continued Oct. 4 as Frey met with Airmen for breakfast, received a mission briefing and visited with representatives from each of the wing’s four groups and several wing staff agencies.

During her unit visits, Frey got a behind-the-scenes look at the process of making crowns for Scott’s dental patients and also had the opportunity to see what E. coli looks like under a microscope. Later, she received a home cooked meal prepared by flight attendants and trained for an active shooter response with security forces Airmen.

“I’m armed with this M1, and I’ve got the gear on … we’re busting down doors, and we’re trying to decipher the good people from the bad people,” Frey said as she recalled her time training with security forces.

From sunrise to sundown, Airmen highlighted the 375th AMW’s impact on the AMC mission, showcasing the important role they play every day. Frey made sure to let the Airmen know that the support goes both ways because, as she said, we are all Airmen together.

“On behalf of all of AMC -- thank you!” said Frey. “Every day we have a choice, and every day the Airmen of the 375th make a choice to not just show up, but to show out and be great Airmen. I just wanted to come by and say I’m here for you. I’ll stand next to you, and I’ll stand with you. Why? Because I’m an Airman just like you.”
