    20th CBRNE Command

    From the CG’s Desk:

Sergeants, Staff Sergeants and Lieutenants you are the face of this command. Over the last 12 years of operating in one of the most complex security environments, you have helped cement the reputation of this command around the world. Around 70 to 80 percent of everything we do in this command you are at the point of action. From Aberdeen, Maryland to Seoul, South Korea your reputation is driving how some of our allies and partners are preparing themselves and resourcing their organizations to be a lot like us. They do this because of you, and the advantages they see in this command. You have set the standard as to what a CBRNE soldier should be and how to operate in this environment.

When I travel around the world meeting with senior leaders, they are amazed at what you do day in and day out. These senior leaders are not only amazed at the breadth and depth of your mission, but the location and the manner in which you are engaging. More importantly, they are impressed with the amount of trust we have in each of you. Without trust, we would not be successful. We would not be able to provide the nation with “Ready, Reliable, and Globally Responsive” CBRNE soldiers when called upon.

I tell every leader I meet that the Soldiers in this command are “Ready, Reliable and Globally Responsive.” I tell them on average we are conducting operations in five to six countries around the world; and no matter what the mission, what the task, when called upon you are ready to execute the mission to standard every single time. You stand ready to deploy on a moment’s notice, from supporting an overseas contingency mission to supporting civil authorities here in the homeland.

No matter where you operate, you, not me, are the face of this command. It is your engagements both here in the homeland at the local, state and federal level as well as around the world where you may be the only U.S. representation. We are relying and depending on you to be the face of this command, and the United States military every single day doing the right thing. That is why the core of the CBRNE Leader Course is that same targeted audience; Sergeants, Staff Sergeants, Second and First Lieutenants. The CBRNE Leader Course reinforces the foundations necessary to ensure the junior leadership of this command can effectively deliver ready, reliable teams, anywhere in the world capable of leading and executing CBRNE operations. It is only in its third iteration but it continues to change from the first course in March 2015. We want to continue to evolve it, so you are prepared for whatever you may find in the field.

Command Sergeant Major Graham and the other senior non-commissioned officers in this command understand what you are facing, and they are continually looking at ways to train you to help you understand the what and why of what you are doing so that you can represent not only this command but the U.S. military anywhere in the world.

You and those that came before you have done an amazing job these past twelve years. I and the fellow command teams could not be more proud of the job you have done. You live up to our motto of Ready, Reliable and Globally Responsive every day.
