Deceased U.S. Navy Sailor In Okinawa

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BUTLER, Okinawa - A U.S. Navy sailor assigned to 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force was involved in an apparent diving mishap at Mermaid Grotto, Manzo-Mo, Okinawa, resulting in his death at approximately 10 a.m. (JST) today. The thoughts and prayers of the entire command are with the sailor's family, friends and unit service members. An official investigation into the exact cause of death has begun and no additional details of the incident are available at this time. The name of the Sailor will be withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin.
