    FORT BUCHANAN, Puerto Rico – The 1st Mission Support Command (1st MSC) Civilian Awards Ceremony was held inside the Ramos Hall at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico on September 29.

    The 1st MSC civilian work force was recognized by Brig. General. Alberto C. Rosende, 1st MSC commanding general and Mr. Jose R. Burgos, 1st MSC command executive officer.

    “You are the cornerstone of the 1st MSC, your vast knowledge and years of experience are essential for when we must make a difficult decision,” said Rosende. “Your contributions have taken the 1st MSC one step forward each year, and today we will be recognizing each and every single one of you.”

    The employees were recognized for their many years of service in the federal government, excellence in performance, promotions, and achievements. Selecting the award for the 1st MSC best employee of the year award was no easy task for the 1st MSC leadership, but there was no doubt that Mr. Angel R. Rodriguez Morales deserved it.

    The best employee of the year award recognizes that civilian employee who has a positive attitude towards work responsibilities, co-workers and customers. Rodriguez worked as the management analyst for the 1st MSC during fiscal year 2016 and demonstrated exceptional meritorious service. He consistently provided strong leadership and sound judgement on every aspect of his assigned duties.

    A retirement ceremony recognized, Ms. Aileen Lopez, Mr. Alberto L. Velez, Ms. Dolores Curtis, and Mr. Jose G. Carrion for their retirement after many years of service to the federal government. After thirty-two years, Ms. Curtis retired as the Logistics Management specialist for the 448th Engineer Battalion and received a presidential letter from the President of the United States of America, Honorable Barack Obama.

    “The way that you all mentor, teach and coach your subordinates is extremely important to the prosperity of the 1st MSC future. Thank you all for your support, hard work and dedication,” said Rosende in closing.
