PENSACOLA, Fla. – Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) Corry Station hosted an outdoor recreation event at Naval Air Station Pensacola Corry Station Sept. 24.

The event was the result of a collaborative effort by Corry Station’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) team; Corry United, IWTC Corry Station’s student organization dedicated to promoting good decision making and alcohol awareness; and IWTC Corry Station’s Multicultural Committee.

Students teamed up to take part in various challenges involving inflatable obstacles and a rock climbing wall, competing for days off from duty. The local USO chapter also provided refreshments for the event.

“This was a really fun event,” said Seaman Recruit Jordan Carcamo. “It’s great that we have people here willing to volunteer their time to give us something fun to do on the weekend.”

Nearly 100 students, staff and family members participated in the event, and Lt. Scott Aaron, IWTC Corry Station’s MWR officer, considered it to be a success.

“It’s important for MWR to do things like this to support the students,” said Aaron. “We want to make sure we provide our students with the opportunity to have fun while staying safe, and it was great to have all of our organizations come together to make that happen.”

Cmdr. Christopher Eng, commanding officer of IWTC Corry Station, also spoke of the importance of conducting morale-boosting events for the students and thanked everyone who made the event possible.

“These events are all about student and staff coordination,” said Eng. “We really appreciate the student input about what they wanted and how we could encourage them to participate. The staff who came out to help support this event are helping to provide more options for students on Corry Station, and activities like this that encourage competition and resiliency are always a benefit for our Sailors.”

Information Warfare Training Command Corry Station, as part of the Center for Information Warfare Training, provides a continuum of training to Navy and joint service personnel that prepares them to conduct information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations.
