Financial Peace University is an opportunity for Airmen and families to learn how to take care of their personal finances through budgeting, investing, paying off debt and more. The course is conducted by the chapel and is based on financial author Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace Military.”

“This class provides Airmen with basic fundamental financial tools to eradicate debt, invest money and make wise purchases, which reduces relationship stress,” said Master Sgt. Brandon Finefrock, 90th Missile Security Forces Squadron first sergeant. “It enables Airmen to achieve financial freedom.”

Finefrock was a facilitator for the two previous classes and said that over $200,000 in debt has been paid off thus far.

“It’s a program intended to get people angry at debt and become motivated to pay it off and organize their financial life,” said Capt. Tom Fussell, 90th Missile Wing chaplain.

From airman basic to field grade officer, anyone can participate in the class.

“I wasn’t expecting the class to be so interactive, I feel like it will help me achieve my financial goals,” said 1st Lt. Brigitte Palacios, 90th Security Forces Group antiterrorism planner.

Classes are held Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. or Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon weekly. The same lesson is taught on both days for students who are unable to attend a class and need to make it up.

The current class is closed for enrollment, but Fussell said those interested can still sign up for upcoming sessions. Students are expected to attend class once a week.

For more information and to sign up, contact the wing chapel at 773-3434 or your unit’s first sergeant.
